With The Underground cranking inside Shore Thing Wrestling Club one would assume these guys would wanna take advantage of what is IN their own back yard. Perhaps NOT.

Perhaps sleeping in is better than winning?

One team which IS showing dedication is The Monmouth Regional High School Wrestling team, traveling all the way from Tinton Falls.

The wrestlers who think all they need to do is wrestle and go to the local gym, bench press and do curls are FAR off path.

I’m a bit shocked at the wrestlers who are not SERIOUS about winning. I guess they don’t care if they win OR lose.

That is better for YOU though, because if you blend a quality wresting club with Underground, you WILL be a Force and will put fear in the eyes of your competitors.

Just ask The Rutgers Wrestlers and Blair Wresting Team, BOTH of whom have sought out the BEST wresting training in the world.

NJ Wrestlers Need to Cross Train

I ALWAYS speak to the athletes of The Underground and the Coaches I consult with regarding cross training to improve overall athleticism in their sport of focus.

Listen to a former 3 sport athlete from NJ, currently a Pro MMA Fighter, as he talks about how he used Football, Wrestling and Sprinting to make himself a more dominant athlete.

If all you do is play Football, or ONLY Wrestle, or ONLY Basketball…..

You are limiting your TRUE potential in performance.

SERIOUS athletes and open minded parents / Coaches understand this.

Those who don’t will eventually lead the athlete to burn out and overuse injuries.

Lead from the FRONT.

NJ Athletes Need INCHES

If YOU are Offended, Then I am Probably Talking About YOU!

Most athletes do NOTHING extra. Not even an extra inch. They get discouraged because they think they need to go the extra mile.

Before you go the extra mile, you need to go the extra inch.

Watch and Learn…..

The speech given above doesn’t just apply just to football players, but for ALL NJ ATHLETES!

Here’s what I KNOW:

- 8 kids just quit a high school wrestling team because it was too hard. Their Coach is actually my old high school wrestling coach. He was awesome…. sounds like he STILL is awesome.

- It’s a sign of the times. Most athletes don’t wanna do any extra. They want facebook, cell phones, video games and fast food. I call this the pussification of the human race.

- Many Varsity athletes can not perform these basic physical tasks:

A) 50 push ups

B) 10 pull ups

C) Jump Rope

D) 10 Bodyweight Squats with proper form

I have more “basics” to add to the above list, BUT, movements such as push ups should be a staple in every athlete’s daily ritual.

- Most athletes skip breakfast because they don’t have time. Translation: “I’m too lazy and not dedicated enough to wake up early and cook myself my own breakfast.

It’s time for athletes to start working on inches.

World’s Strongest Athlete Contest Events

OK guys, BIG weekend ahead at DeFranco’s World’s Strongest Athlete Contest.

The order of Events are as Follows:

Police Division will perform the events with the NFL guys:  Yoke 1st, Tire 2nd, Sled 3rd and Rope Pull last.

College Division is doing Rope Pull 1st, Yoke 2nd, Tire 3rd and Sled last.

HS Division is doing Tire, Sled, Rope Pull, Yoke.

This is the final week of prep, prepare for Battle!

Extra Credit for the Extra Edge

Yesterday I went through a hellish workout with some friends of mine down by the Jersey Shore.

I won’t lie, I got rocked going through this unusual workout regime, and, because I wasn’t totally satisfied with my efforts, I made sure to crank a lil’ extra credit at the end of the workout.

See the video below for my extra credit that only took me 1 minute….

As Mike said, those 20 pull ups were cranked after 5 rounds of brutal conditioning.

You can also tell that training is FUN!
