In the recent Bethlehem Holiday Classic, Two NJ Wrestlers clashed in the finals, Andrew Campolattano of Bound Brook and Mike Evans of Blair Academy.

Andrew Campolattano was 100-0 going into the tournament and Mike was a Beast of the East Champion.

Since late August, Blair Wrestlers have been going through specialized workouts as Coach Buxton and I consult on an almost daily basis.

The New program has made the Blair Wrestlers faster, stronger, more explosive and better conditioned.

When the workouts were first implemented, Mike Evans was actually struggling through them. Like anything else, with practice and commitment, he overcame and is now dominating the workouts that are coming his way.

BIG Lesson # 1: Most wrestlers, and athletes in general skip in season workouts and treat it as if it is not important. This is a HUGE mistake, especially if you end up competing against an Underground trained athlete who IS following a time tested system.

Here is some footage of Blair training at The Underground Strength Gym in Edison, NJ…. You can see BIG Mike Evans in there tearing it up as well…..

Another BIG Lesson here is the way Andrew handled his loss. He was upset that he lost, but he did not throw a fit, he didn’t cry or make excuses, instead, he got busy the very next day and went to wrestling practice.

This loss is perhaps the BEST thing that ever happened to Andrew. It will fire him up and push him to even greater levels of intensity, commitment and desire.

Who knows, perhaps Andrew will also make the trek to The Underground, Bound Brook is a lot closer to Edison, NJ than Blair is.

But, for the dedicated, distance doesn’t matter, excuses are not made, only action is taken and desire to win followed by massive action is what builds champions.

Congrats to Mike on this victory, AND, congrats to Andrew for being a true champion with sportsmanship and getting back into the practice room the very next day.

Blair Wrestling Teams Up with Underground Strength Gym

Nov 1

The Blair Wrestling Team is a national powerhouse, dominating the prep national scene for 30 years. In addition, these NJ wrestlers are moving to many D1 wrestling teams and some even become NAVY SEALs.

Under Head Wrestling Coach, Jeff Buxton, who teaches more than just wrestling, he teaches life skills, I have NEVER witnessed an entire room, of fully dedicated and motivated athletes, not even at the college level.

This video speaks louder than my words, as you can see The Blair Wrestling team going through a workout at The Underground Strength Gym in Edison, NJ.

When Coach Buxton and I connected via e mail, he was 100% open to learning new methods to take his wrestlers to the next level.

This is coming from a Coach who has a team that hasn’t lost a prep national title in 30 years!

I’ve seen teams have losing records for 5 years or more and not have 1% the motivation of Coach Buxton to help their wrestling team.

The Moral of the Story: You are NEVER good enough, you can always get better. Wrestling is part of the puzzle, strength, speed, conditioning and mental training are other pieces of the puzzle.

Are you filling in ALL the pieces of YOUR puzzle?

Think about that.

PS: As you can see from the video with The Blair Wrestlers, we are ALL business. Yes, we have a blast when we train, BUT, if you want to become part of The Underground Strength Gym you better be more motivated than anyone else you know. If not, you are probably not a good fit for The Underground.

If you are highly motivated and want to WIN, BIG time, then give us a call and we can schedule your trial workout.

Wrestling Training in NJ at Shore Thing Wrestling Club

Yesterday was a beautiful day in NJ.

I had just returned from Louisville, KY and Ohio on a business trip. I got in some awesome training using Kettlebells, bodyweight training, resistance bands and good ol’ fashioned powerlifting training.

Sunday morning it was time to travel down the Jersey Shore for some wrestling training at The Shorething Wrestling Club, located in Lakewood, NJ.

Coach Buxton was on hand to crank a free, 2 hr wrestling seminar, and 1 Undergrounder made the trek down, Russ Benner from Roselle Park.

After Coach Buxton cranked it up, it was my turn.

So, we did specific bodyweight training and conditioning for wrestling.

Lots of hand walking, walking along the walls, various jumps for lower body power to improve wrestling performance….

At the end, we busted out the Battling Ropes, Russ Benner showed the crew how it’s done, while those who have not been exposed to top notch wrestling training were shocked at how 1 minute of battling ropes busted them up so badly.

Proper wrestling training needs to be done if you want the edge.

It doesn’t matter what tools you use, it matters what the coach knows and understands regarding effective program design in regards to improving wrestling.

I always hear parents tell me they are buying kettlebells and tires, etc and now they can train their son for wrestling.

Well, guess what, my Grandma has wrestling mats in the basement, does she now qualify as an expert to coach wrestling?

Being a great Coach is completely different from having the equipment a great coach has.

At the Underground Strength Gym, we’re experts. This is why we have people flying in to NJ from as far away as Australia on a regular basis to learn what we do and how we develop such amazing results.

Space is limited.

If you want in, call us or e mail us to schedule your trial workout / interview.
