BOTH Ray Jaz and Shawn Orzechowski seem to have been separated at birth. BOTH of these Undergrounders arrived for their workouts wearing 20 lb weight vests and proceeded to go through their entire workout wearing their vests!
Ray Jaz is the freshman 103 lb varsity wrestler for The South Plainfield Wrestling Team. He’s one of our most dedicated athletes and his success as a freshman, varsity wrestler is proof of his efforts!
Shawn Orzechowski is likely the strongest volleyball player in all of NJ. Being the younger brother of one of our longest standing clients, General Chow, he has NO choice!

Check out our BEAST, Curls, tearing it up one week before he had to head to Football Camp at Johns Hopkins University.
The best thing we did for Curls was get him to wrestle Senior Year in high school – he became faster, more explosive, more athletic, more agile, mobile and hostile
As you can see, at 240 lbs, we train him to be READY for practice AND the games. How many 240 lb Football players do you know who can crank explosive squats and then perform pull ups as “active recovery”?!?!

The most successful AND the smartest athletes train YEAR round, yes, even IN Season.
So, if you had plans for sitting on your ass in season then you’re making a BIG mistake. While your competition gets weaker you should focus on remaining stronger. The training will also give you that mental edge, so when times are tough, you won’t be questioning yourself if you did the work necessary to win.
If you train at The Underground, you DEFINITELY won’t question yourself. You’ll KNOW you had the best training to prep you for battle, your competition will NOT have this advantage.

BIG congrats goes to my bruddah, Gene Lezark, for opening his new location for his CJA Wrestling Club, now in Old Bridge, NJ….formerly in North Brunswick, NJ.
Due to a serious accident on Rt. 18, I was rerouted a good 35 minutes. Good times
I had a few short minutes to talk with the wrestlers who were on hand.
I saw a few of my Underground Wrestlers present: Steven & Eli Zafrani of Old Bridge, Michael Julve of Bishop Ahr, Brendan ‘Curly’ Calas, Mike Fahey & Garret Cuddey of Spotswood.
These bosy wrestle at CJA 3 – 4 x week and train with me 2 – 3 x week at The Underground Strength Gym in Edison, NJ.
Do they need to do more on top of their 5 – 6 training sessions each week? It depends on what they NEED, a few mini workouts to work on weak areas in physical training or wrestling technique will help, but, they need to take action on their own, it’s called the “Champion’s Attitude”.
I asked the CJA wrestlers a few questions, and you can answer them yourself.
The questions were based on not so much if they were doing the right things, but rather to simply see if they were doing things to set themselves apart from the competition.
1) Do you run? 2 kids out of 25 or so wrestlers raised their hands.
I’m NOT a fan of distance runs. I prefer sprints of all varieties, BUT, the BIG shocker to me was that only 2 out of the 25 kids raised their hands.
Most of these kids do nothing in addition to their wrestling.
the BAD news?
So is every other wrestler in NJ. They ALL go to wrestling clubs.
So, it IS a Level playing field because barely any of these NJ wrestlers are doing anything different or better than their competition.
NOT good.
To be the best, or at least in the top 10%, you need to have a dedicated and well planned physical training regime to combine with your sports training.
It doesn’t matter what sport you play, you MUST seek the advantage, the edge, both physically and mentally if you want to win.
Final Thoughts: The kids who are wrestling club AND Underground trained are some of the deadliest wrestlers in NJ.
With Blair Wrestling team following the Underground system, I would fear meeting any of those kids down a dark alley.
I am disappointed to see the lack of kids out there doing “extra” on their own.
Too many video games and computers, not enough sweat and physical exertion.
I feel bad for the wrestler who didn’t do the extras when he had the chance, because when he meets an Underground trained wrestler, he’s gonna get busted up.

Underground Strength Gyms are not your typical performance center for athletes.
And of course, your typical athlete will not survive inside an Underground Strength Gym. We don’t expect freaks to walk in and be ready to GO, but, we do expect serious work ethic and heart,
