I love training combat athletes.
These athletes require serious mental toughness, strength endurance, power endurance and overall high octane conditioning.
We use Russian Kettlebells to develop a “different” type of strength.
No lying down, no sitting down, no rest….
Below is your truly killing it with what I dub the “Combat Complex” – holding the camera is Dan White, currently a D 1 wrestler and a 3 time prep national champ.
He was preparing for his stay at the Olympic training center….
Dan rocked the combat complex with the 36 lb kettlebell, I am showing you the pain with a 70 lb kettlebell!

Now that Football season is about to end I am getting 1 – 2 phone calls a day or someone stops into the Underground to see what’s going on and how they can become part of the elite.
Looks like it’s “too late”…
The training should have been in place before the season, and many people are realizing they didn’t have that edge, that unfair advantage over their competition.
Why didn’t these athletes have the edge?
Simple…
They did the same exact thing as the competition did. Nothing special.
- High school weight room
- High school practice
Not the type of work ethic a TRUE Gladiator would put forth.
The busier we get, the more I realize one thing:
** I only work with highly motivated, super serious, super hard working athletes **
Rather than accept anyone and everyone, which we never did and never will do, I am going to make it better for the athletes already in our program.
I am capping membership at 40 athletes.
If you want in, you’ll be placed on our waiting list and we will contact you when someone finished our program.
Once we hit 40, the doors are shut.
I want to be super focused on helping our current wrecking crew of athletes.
More isn’t better in my eyes.
Better is better.
Down the road, possibly next year, when I have more time, we will increase our number to 45 or 50.
But for now, it’s 40.
This brings me back to what happened when I did my first seminar at CJA Wrestling Club, and I spoke to the parents and said:
“You’re either in or you’re out. If you’re out, you better hope your son doesn’t end up competing against an Underground trained athlete.”
I created this gym with one thing in mind, and that was to create brute athletes who dominated and achieved all their goals and dreams.
I will NEVER change that.
Procrastinators and excuse makers will be sitting in the stands, watching Underground trained athletes make that much further than they did.
Who has the eye of the tiger?
Only time will tell.

Many people think that because we use training tools such as kettlebells, tractor tires, sandbags, etc that THIS is what gives our athletes the edge.
VERY WRONG!
I know people all around the world who do the squat, bench and deadlift, yet there are a select few gyms in the world with guys squatting over 1,000 lbs, benching over 600 lbs and deadlifting over 800 lbs.
What’s the BIG defining factor here? Program design and atmosphere.
The way we organize programs revolves around bringing results in strength, power, speed and conditioning ALL year long, every week of every month.
There are many gyms near me who use tires and kettlebells as well. What’s the difference?
The difference is my understanding of what each athlete needs, how to organize their training program optimally for results in season, off season, pre season and every other week of the year to ensure these athletes peak at the correct time and get results faster than their competition.
If I didn’t have tired, sandbags, stones, etc. – guess what?
I’d still be developing athletes into Gladiators.
Below is a video of 2 wrestlers who didn’t even touch a tire, sandbag or anything else “fancy” – and guess what? They’re strength, power and conditioning is getting freaky and soaring to new levels so fast it’s not even funny!
Tires, kegs, kettlebells – they’re just tools.
Understanding how to put together a program that delivers results every week, every month and all year is what really shows what works or not.

PS: I’ve decided to cap gym membership at 40 clients right now. Nothing less than super serious athletes will be allowed into the program. If time allows and we have our current 40 athletes at a level we want them at, we’ll take a few more.
We’re not like other gyms where you must wait on line or train with a huge group. We want quality, and we want results. Keeping our clientele to a minimum ensures they get our best attention, nothing less.

Distance running beats up the knees, the hips, the joints and trains you to be slower.
Smarter training is critical, it’s not always about doing more or working harder, it’s SMARTER.

Nj wrestling has repeatedly brought up some of the best wrestlers in the country. Many of the wrestlers from NJ move out of state to wrestle in Pa., Ohio, Iowa and Minnesota.
Now that Rutgers University has Coach Goodale, looks like a boat load of these kids are rethinking the “move away” idea and NJ Wrestling at the collegiate level may very well be in top form with the rebuilding of Rutgers.
College level is a whole new animal: the wrestlers are extremely strong, aggressive, explosive and their mental toughness is on a completely different level.
Imagine the edge you could get over your competition as a high school wrestler if you were given the opportunity to get the unfair advantage with extreme mental toughness, dominating strength and explosive power.
